Hi, guys. How are you?
I just wanted to know about your opinion of the course, which my school provides.
My school provides us an Information technology course called Web Media.

The purpose of this course is to educate people to be able to work Web Industry as Web designer or developer, whatever.

To my surprised, a lot of my friend has made a small test site using ASP stuff. But a lot of people seems to not understand what is going on. A tutor brings code into class then student basically cut and paste onto their html file. Even my best friend still not sure how to see html file using browser. Tutor seems to love Macromedia stuff. Student have got studio MX on the machine. Everybody just use Dreamweaver to do anything. Nearly half of the year. But a friend of mine seems to know little about basic html tags. It is nearly half of the year as I said. Next half course is that student makes dinamic web site then end of the year, they will make Ecommers web site.

A friend of mine really struggling to understand what is going on his course. He made something but never knew the issues behind it.

I personally think that it is very important to know the basics like HTML stuff. I am not objecting my school's course. But if people always relying on such a nice software like Dreamweaver, never learn basics, don't they?

I am studying a lot of thing from books. Internet and here. I have been using Notepad to create site. Because in that way, I can see how much I can do myself. That is my study style. How about you?

I really wish my friends would be able to get certification at the end of the year.
Please let me know any thoughts.

Hiroki: From what you describe it doesn't sound like a particularily good course. Relying on DW isn't really a crime (depending on the course objectives) but just handing out code to copy and paste doesn't sound like a very good idea at all and I'm not sure how the expect anyone to learn anything (it always makes me suspicious that the teacher doesn't really know what they are doing either - a lot of IT teachers have moved over from other subjects).

Anyway it sounds like you are better off doing what you are currently doing. Studying hard, practicing and asking questions
