I've been sitting on this for quite some time. Now I've got the bug pretty bad to write it down.

#10. Litter Removal: Moiré Rémoval by Kai.

I'm looking to improve on that (sort of) with my own hidden agenda. My problem is that I don't have a Moire problem photo. Anybody got one that I can use? Credit, link, or whatever to the donator.

Try scanning a magazine cover or a 4 color brochure.... just make sure you have 'descreen' turned OFF.

Should get what you're looking for.

It's not that good.
It's been inside paintshop pro for a while.. use it in the "help fixing up bad photo" topic to see the results. Althoug..... it is the best you can expect to get from a filter without resizing or blurring - at least from a newbie's point of view.

Ah... magazine cover. I've tried a few photos including postcards, but I haven't tried a high gloss yet. Duh!

I'll give it a shot later. Thanks, NJ.

Arthemis, don't make me hurt you for suggesting PSP. Bad Arthemis! Bad! Go lie down!

Had a problem with moire quite a while ago. Got some real good advise from the folks here at the Asylum and put the knowledge to good use. The success story is here: http://www.haughtbk.com/dotsyes.jpg <--Before http://www.haughtbk.com/dotsno.jpg <--After

For some reason, the tricks don't always work, but do work often enough to help me with my job. Grab the photos if you find them useful.

Yeah, BeeKay, I remember that. I didn't say anything in the thread, but I am *very* impressed with the difference.

And thanks for the offer, but I've decided to fake it. I ripped out a page of a magazine, lightly folded it a few times, and scanned. So far this seems to be a good alternative.

I'll let you folks know later.

Done. Once again, some more arcane stuff that you *might* use once in your life is flayed open.

Submitted for your approval and/or ridicule.

A hex editor allows you to modify the bits in a file directly. A regular text editor takes the bit patterns in a file and decrypts them into their alphanumeric equivalent. A hex editor will display the actual bit patterns themselves.

There are several freeware hex editors available on the internet but I'd recommend ultraedit because it's a great general purpose editor as well as a hex editor.

Grevious error fixed. :whew: I know there is at least one more grammar error, but I can't see it.

Yeah, a hex editor allows you to work with the "raw" data of a file. The screen cap in the my tutorial with numbers all over the place is a screen cap of a hex editor. And, yes,Ultra-Edit fully rocks.

Man, check out the big brains on warjournal ...You have alot of time on your hands, don`t you ?

That`s facinating stuff. It`s awesome to watch the creative mind at work. I never in a million years would of thought to break a curves file down into bits and see what it looked like, much less figure out how to use it.

kudos, bro. Now, that`s techno-slop, at it`s finest. Does this hex editor work on any file ?

Yes, a hex editor will work on any file. Me and my buds used to use a hex editor to modify text in programs. We'ld mess with the menus and About and all that. Gotta be careful, though. If you mess with the wrong bytes, you can serious mess things up. I don't recommend it if you have no idea what you are doing.

You should try browsing your swap file with a hex editor -- but don't modify it! Just browse it.

Anyways, thanks for the kudos on AMP, folks. Stuff you'll probably never use, but it's good to know that somebody is taking note and appreciates the effort. If anybody out there ever uses it, please let me know.
