Thanks, DG. I am having a problem with her nose. I`ll try that.

No, this is not the size I`m working at. The original is 2000 px wide. Trying to save some BW.( I`ll post revisions larger ) How much larger ?

OK, I had some rather intense facial reconstruction to do, but she`s coming along.

If you try to fail and succeed, which have you done ?

<edit> Oh, yea. What I id was make some center lines and realigned the nose, mouth, and chin. still to come, moving the right( hers) cheek out, and the left side of her head in. Other suggestions ?</edit>

Since that other thread was closed, I archived it to the FAQ forum, and also left it in place where it was, *really* good thread there, good work, guys!

Well, this thred is possibly going to fall on it's face inlight of recent events.

However I'm prepared to try and pick up where the others left off, I've dug out some of my old books on perspective drawing and been brushing up on my drawing skills of late.

This flower's just started to bloom and I'm not about to sit around and watch it die! Although, I don't think i'll be able to continue this all on my own so if anyone whats to give me a hand then please do.

I'll be back soon to throw in fomr information on Composition, Perspective and other general drawing / painting methods. I'll also try and discuss what I know about rendering reflections & refractions by hand, and possibly some more stuff about colour. This is still only the tip of the iceberg so I'm gonna need help here. If you want to give me a hand then just contact me by email.

Ok, i got some info togther but it's gonna take time to put it in a clear and simple to understand was. I'm just wondering what you would like me to try and cover first. Basic Composition, Basic prespective or Basic Creature/Figure drawing?? I'll hopefull be making a small web site about most of this but that won't be untll I've covered most of the topics here (Consider your self a lab rat.. hehe). But overall I should be covering the following topics:

Drawing:
Basic Classical Techniques
Basic Photoshop Techniques
Advanced Photoshop Techniques
Basic Creature / Figure Drawing
Details

Composotion:
Basics
Symmetry & Balance
Tonal Keys & Movement

Prespective:
Basics
Parallel perspective
Oblique Perspective

Shadows & Reflections:
Sunlight Shadows
Artificial Light
Principles of Reflections
Reflections in Water & Glass

Colour & Light:
Tone
Shading
Colour with Tone
Advanced Colour

As i said in my pervious post, what DG and Weadah started is just the tip of the iceberg. There's a heap of information there and some of it I'm still learning myself. I wouldn't call myself a tradational or fine artist, more of an architectural artist that never finished his studies.. hehe. But I really can't tackle this all on my own, I'll need other people's help!! As i said I'm still learning some of this information myself so even if you don't have an extreamly extensive background in art or drawing then I can still really use you help.

ps. Please excuse any spelling mistakes, my fingers are freezing at the moment cause my heater broken

Composition is as good a place as any, but basic/advanced PS technique might be good, too.

And here`s an update on my first portrait. Any suggestions?

That is one huge earring, db.

It looks good so far. The earring clashes with the rest because it's 3d while the rest of the piece is still rather flat. When you get further along I'm sure it'll look great.

That looks good so far DB but I'v noticed a couple of things that look a bit odd (I would have mentioned these earlier but the Asylum kept goind down every time I tried to post :mad

First off, the eyes? There seems to be too much white space under the iris's. Unless you want your model to be staring upwards, which she doesn't apear to be doing, there should really be any white space there at all. Consulting the mirror, I only see the coloured iris of my eye seperate from the eye ridges when I telt my head way back of forward, or when I'm glaring.

That umm earing.. Well, it looks so big that it appears to be reasting on the side of hre face, is this how you intended it to be?? Further more, the way you've shaded your earing had mede it look like there's another light source hitting it from the lower lefthand side. The earing itself should also be in falling into the shadow cast from the face as should the section of the neck directly under the earing. Oh, one last thing, the chain on the earing, remember chains interlock in a twisting motion and every second link is roatated about 90 degrees to the other.

Overall it looks great, can't wait to see it when you start working more colour into it.

As far as the art lessons go I'm goind to set a couple of mini tutes that will work through some very basic principles. Similar to what Docilebob suggested but starting with really really basic stuff.

I'll create a small tute that will work the reader through making a simple (reall simple) landscape. This will teach the reader how to start working with PS to actualy paint something, as i think this is an important first step. Then'll prpbably flow this onto some stuff about comopsotion in which I'll make the reader paint something else which will flow into yet another area ect ect ect... While in the process of moving through the different topic areas I will explain some of the slightly more advanced techniques. However most of them are quite simple and chances are they eill be covered in the first leson or you know them already.

Please remember I'm by no meant an expert at this, sure I have some ground knowledge but this is some cases a learning process for me and I'll be attempting to teach as I go along. Things may seem a little raw at first and as I said, I'll be takeing things slowly. I will also require good feedback on how effective the lessons are in order to smooth things out. And if your willing to help out, just say so, I could always use an extra hand or two.

I've already finished the example image for the first lesson now all I have to do is write it, below is the image just incase you were wondering how simple I was aimimg for...

Thanks for the comments, Drac, silence. I`ll address those issues as I add color.
In the picture I`m working from, she is kinda glaring, and if you think that earing is big, you should see the one in the pic.
