Hey, I was just wondering if anyones come across a decent grass tutorial. I used to use one a while ago and it never really worked right. I had an idea for a neato sig of Jestah written in cool steal(not crap steel) laying on a bed of grass but my grass just looks crappy. Does anyone have a good way of making grass or point me in the right direction?

Thanks a lot Dan. That wasnt really what I was looking for. The tutorial I found a while ago was fairly similar to that but it just doesnt look real enuff. I want you guys to think about mowing your monitors when you see the grass in my sig, and thats just not going to do it. Maybe Ill just find a picture of grass and use that... Thanks a lot Dan.

That grass would make a good slime texture for slimy interfaces.

Wow, that site appears to be mondo old. Like, some of the tuts are from 1995, and they're apparently version 3..

I've been trying for grass myself...the closest I've gotten was astro-turf with a lot of black space.

Well.. I think that tutorials on grass would be quite difficult since each blade is usually unique and different. The best you could do is paint it on with a wacom/mouse.It's actually simple <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Here's something I did by accident once. If you like it, I might be able to remember how I did it.

That's like...perfect, wes. it would be better at a little lower brightness and something done to it so it would look like it's being blown by wind...it looks like really short synthetic grass under spotlight and super closeup.

You won't believe this, but for the first time in 4 months, I left the Zip disk with that texture at home. I think I saved the procedure to create it in the File Info. I'll pin a note to my shirt reminding me to bring it to work tomorrow and take a look.

this isn't for photoshop, but there is this progy call Jasc Pro or something, and it has a built in "grass maker" photo quality. I star school tommorow, so I'll double check the name. If you want, I could just make a large pic of the grass and put it on a floppy, bring it home, and post it. lemme know if you want it. also, how long you want the grass?

Ummm. not to be simplistic or anything but is there a reason you can't just use a real picture of grass?

OK, it was easier than I thought. Here's what I had written down:

1. Create a new file and fill it with a green color.
2. Add noise (48, Gaussian, Monochromatic).
3. Apply Stylize > Wind (Stagger, From the left). Apply twice.
4. Rotate the canvas 90 degrees clockwise.

Ta-da! If you want it longer, apply Wind more times. The shade of green is all up to you.

Whilst everyone has been going off like a frog in a sock with all these different ways of doing it...has anyone thought of getting a digital photo of REAL gras, and then using hte distort filter and some airbrishing to bend any blades you need to bend?

HMMMMMMMMMM??????!!!!!????

Lol yeah I agree with Wes, the reason why I dont just take my digital camera and take a picture of the grass is because I would rather do it on my own. I guess I just get the satisfaction of doing it on my own sometimes.
