I'm sorry to say that I've made a FINAL decision to never participate in the Asylum again. I know that some of you will be happy about that but this is not the appropriate thread to cheer. I'd like to thank those of you who have offered their criticisms and opinions on the hobby works I've posted and on myself:

Dracusis: Thank you for being an inspiration and giving me honest advice. Please keep up the fantastic work and never ever let anyone drag you down. You are an awesome artist and a truly nice person. Thank you again.

Indus2002: I applaud you for helping me look deeper into an artistic composition. Your image is absolutely marvelous and I will still purchase a poster should one ever become available. As I've said to Dracusis, do not let anyone tear away at your confidence. You have talent beyond that of even my dreams. You will be great. Thanks.

DL-44: Though you and I have had our differences, I've grown to see passed the mirage you make for yourself. You are also a talented individual as well as a mature and noble acquaintance that I have ever had the honor to duel with on the Internet. I emailed you a week ago but you never replied. I believe my email that I sent expresses how much I have you to thank.

docilebob: You were one of the first to welcome me to the Asylum with kind eyes despite any history I had at the forums at Eyeball-Design. Thank you.

Das: Although, I haven't seen you post since your comments on my shield/sword, your knowledge of weaponry and the way you criticized my piece goes beyond anything anyone has ever said to me. Thank you as well.

I apologize if I've missed anyone that has the notion that they've affected me positively in some way.
Now, thanks to the people who know absolutely nothing about me but decide to give their opinion based on virtual and fake conversations. The Internet is not honest and most conversations that happen in the Internet have no magic.

DarkGarden: Your words here resound your ignorance and cynicism. I'm very happy that I never had the chance to know you better.

WebShaman: Some people like you. I do not. But that's life, eh? Anyway, get a new hobby.

SpyX, synax, Michael: You three have had the most profound effect on my view of assholes. Thanks for reinforcing my opinion of you three.

Despite that the five people above started against me in the beginning, they've had a positive effect in my life as well. They've helped me look beyond the Internet for answers. I realized as I took a ride around the city earlier today that what we say or do here in this forum has absolutely zero effect on our local real world surroundings. This is not the real world. We do not act out there as we do in here unless this truly is an Asylum and if it is I don't belong here on the grounds that I'm sane.

The last person I would like to thank is Suho1004. Suho, even in the midst of the tensions ... the precursors to a war between the five above and myself ... you were able to stay calm and not jump on the bandwagon as so many have done. You were able to understand where I was coming from and the purpose I wanted to fight for. When I watched Jim Carrey's movie "The Majestic," I realized that I should have stood up against the bullies, but in this case, TheDPQ, Raptor, and you were right that I should stand down. So now, I am standing down forever from here. Thanks, Suho, for the kind words and understanding.

*sigh*

It would be much better to stay and build relationships because I think you would find that with time you would come to an understanding with most of those you cite as reasons for going just like you describe about DL-44.

If you have a problem with anything I said in the philosophy section then I would be happy to discuss that with you via email.

But if this is just another case of someone being far too self-centered for anything I just said to matter, then let me reiterate...

*sigh*

Ah, another sad lament...

Ramsay, I read the thread where you shared your views on palestine among many, many, other things and see that you definitely stuck your chin out. Nothing wrong with that. I can also see that you may have become frustruated and stepped over the line a bit...to say that WebShaman is a 'child' seems to be begging for some sort of correction...you appear to have gotten it. Develop coping skills. Food for thought: If you want to swing your dick around in the Philo/Silliness forum you have to be able to give it as good as you get it. You started to give it and appear to have faltered when they began to give it back to you. Not all of us suffer from fundamental attribution errors.

You have chosen not to participate in these forums again...ok, perhaps you can read and gain a bit of perspective on why you seemed incapable of interacting with those specific elements of the asylum you mentioned. If we each had to make a list of people we thought were assholes based on their behavior here I am sure there would be some common individuals among all lists. Thats just a reality of the group dynamic here, its a good thing.

Perhaps you can venture back into the fray when your epidermis has reached an acceptable density.

Keep learning and developing your skills, good luck.

Hmmmmm..........

The fact that you saw DL for the jolly nice and talented guy that he is was a good sign that you'd started to 'get it' but you never seemed to cope very well with people disagreeing with you and nearly every thread you were in span off topic to bitching. The fact that you've done something similar elsewhere suggests to me that you need to develop a few more skills for dealing with people online.

One of the biggest problems with on-line communication is that so many people take it all to heart.

The second biggest problem is that people have a tendance to hold grudges. Facial expression and body language hold no ground here so the only thing we have to go by are words. The problem is, so much of the way we've all learnt to communicate is related to how we act when we do so. Removing all of this often causes problems in many different areas.

I don't know about anyone else but I also find it hard to admit when I'm wrong in places like this. There are times when I'd just prefer to run away and hide, hoping no one will notice, or forget quickly... sometimes that works but sometimes it just makes things worse.

Things can get pulled from the past and they are as clear as if they just happened. Kinda makes it hard to make amends with a system like this. You could even go as far to say that nothing will ever really blow over. The comments you make here stick around like an ugly pimple. If they cut deep, then will continue to do so for a much greater length of time then they would in any other reality.

Yet no one really need apologise explicitly. We're all people, and generally people want to do the right thing. Shit just happens sometimes. Sometimes it happens a lot too. But it will always happen.

However there's one thing I love about so many of the people here. After a while everyone will cool off and forget about it. Most people here judge by how someone acts here and now. They usually only drag up history if it's repeating itself...

Hmm... Now I'm just ranting aren't I?

~smirk~

I remember my second post here. I picked a fight with twitch. ~grin~ Only later did I realise that I was completely wrong. But he's gone now. The sad thing is, because of my second post, I never really got along with him too well. But I did learn a shit load from his comments. He was an asshole, probably still is but he knew his shit and he knew it well. I learnt to filter out the bullshit and the egos, take what's worth taking and leave the rest...

Yah, I'm defiantly a rant. Or maybe a ramble?

Eh, I'll let you decide.

~shrug~

I have to reiterate maoiz' comment - if you're gonna go swingin your dick around, expect it to get stepped on.

You can't walk into a place that is filled with some very intelligent, experienced, talented individuals, and expect to run around as if you're the all-knowing.....
You can't continually express your "obvious" superiority, make extremely rude and personal attacks on people for no reason, make obvious attempts at starting fights, and then turn around and hold a fucking grudge about it and whine like a bitch about the "bullies".

It simply doesn't work that way. Melodrama is for children and unhappy rich housewives.

It's very dangerous to over inflate a fragile ego. It just stretches thinner and thinner and thinner.....

So, as they say, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

.

(heh....and I'm still trying to find a topic on which DG can be described as 'ignorant'. not much luck yet though.....)

EA forum has a very smart rule: it allows you to edit your message just for some time (I don't know how much) after you have posted it the first time. Once the timeout has expired, you cannot edit it anymore, the Edit icon is gone for good.
What about implementing this idea here?

*sighs* <-- seem to be doing alot of that latley dont i?
Now look ramsey it's a shame.. you felt the need to leave
your a talented.. intelligent guy... even if you do have a couple of
communication problem's .. as you said the internet world dosent effect the real word
but when it comes down to.. your still talking to real people.. real people.. with real views'.. real people from all diffrent tpes of backgrounds of diffrent age's... all with diffrent views and outlooks on life..
and you need to accept that each and every person isnt going to agree with you..
and thats why the internet is diffrent from real life.. you can come into a community where people are very, very diffrent but all share a common intrest.. where as in real it's more like lots of people who are very, very simliar in many rspects who share diffrent intrest's

unfortunalty because of the diffrent views and opinon's ...not everyones going to agree with your's wich is expected... there not going to agree with all your idea's and there

yer it can feel at times that people are bullying you ....
when i joined i felt the same.. i idiotacaly spammed the GN.. and then joined here...
I then proceed to request a review for my site "Flyboy Design" ... it got ripped apart... they hated it.. and didnt hold back on telling me so.. i was nieve enough to think i was a failry good webdesinger a fairly good webdesinger that couldnt use any form of a graphics program a webdesinger that didnt even know css
but i just started crusing around the asylum and seeing some of these people's work and it was ovbius it wasent personll my site was just crap....

and something you just need to take thing's on the chin.. and take whats said.. and use that to excel
you took what was said a little to personly ... granted there are your ideas and views but you need to step back after some one's said something about them and .. question them your self from time to time......
but hey thats just my opinon

Thanks

DL: I do not disagree with you. I think that you misunderstood what I was saying, though. I was referring to the whole situation as unfortunate. While few people may mourn ramsay's departure, don't you think it would have been more "fortunate" if he had learned to adjust and become a productive member of the Asylum? What was unfortunate was that it ended like this when it didn't have to--with just a little maturity and effort on ramsay's part, we could've gotten over this and moved on. Opinions on the likelihood of that happening aside, I still find it unfortunate.
