I am looking for a free server with at least 10MB of space and NO banners of any kind.

I have used Redrival (which got really sloooww).

And recently tried Crosswinds, but they are not reliable at all.

If anyone can recommend a good server, I would GREATLY appreciate it =)

Note: Obviously, I am not interested in Geocities/Angelfire/Tripod, or anything like those sites :P

i dont realy use free webservers anymore. i run 2 webservers here at home off of my personal pcs. i have ssi, php, and asp support and i dont have to upload any files at all since the server is right on my hard drive.

true, im not realy supposed to do that according to my isp... but i dont get all that many hits.

Just get a wespace that uses banners, then hack it so the banner doesn't come up <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Like so..:

<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Bah!</TITLE>
<NOSCRIPT>
</HEAD><BODY></NOSCRIPT></HEAD>
<BODY>Notice the extra body and head tags? They're fake tags, and do nothing in the <noscript> tag, but your free webhost will still attach the banners into them making them do nothing <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> Muwahahahha!
</BODY></HTML><NOSCRIPT>

The extra <NOSCRIPT> at the end (left open) will make it so your free webhost can't add anything in the future to your lovely page.

Big thanks to Elf Qrin (he'll know who he is, if he reads this) for this <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

I use http://www.abac.com for my host. $9.95 a month and it seems pretty damn fast.

What I noticed is that Hypermart uses a script that comes after the

code:
</HTML>

tag.

This is the code

code:
</noscript>
<!-- -->
</noscript>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">

<!--
browser = (((navigator.appName == "Netscape") && (parseInt(navigator.appVersion) >= 2 )) &#0124; &#0124; ((navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") && (parseInt(navigator.appVersion) >= 2 )));
browser4 = (((navigator.appName == "Netscape") && (parseInt(navigator.appVersion) >= 4 )) &#0124; &#0124; ((navigator.appName == "Microsoft Internet Explorer") && (parseInt(navigator.appVersion) >= 4 )));
if (browser4) {
if (!self.url) {
self.url = '';
}
if (parent.name != 'test') {
test = window.open("http://click.go2net.com/adpopup?site=HM&shape=noshape&border=1&area=DIR.ART&sizerepopup=1&hname=UNKNOWN", "test", "resizable=yes,width=528,height=200");
}
} else if (browser) {
if (!self.url) {
self.url = '';
}
if (parent.name != 'test') {
test = window.open("http://click.go2net.com/adpopup?site=HM&shape=banner&border=1&area=DIR.ART&hname=UNKNOWN", "test", "resizable=yes,width=528,height=200");
}
}

//-->

</SCRIPT>

It seems complicated (To me!) As webmasters get smarter so do the hosts. I predict that will not last too long!

If it adds a script after the </HTML>
Just add <NOSCRIPT> after </HTML> (like I did above) and leave it open. That way no javascript (or VBscript, I think) will work after </HTML>

While we are talking about hosts can anyone suggest a host the is $10 a month or less has atleast 50mb of storage and PHP support?

By the way Dan that still dosen't work. I think Hypermart has you licked!

<NOSCRIPT>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<!--#echo banner=""-->
</NOSCRIPT>
</HEAD>
<title>your title
</title>
</head>

<body>
Body here
</body>
</html>
<NOSCRIPT>

Ya, I know Dan. The problem was where he was putting the Javascript code for the banner. He was putting it in the actual body of the page instead of the false body in the head section. It's all you, I just showd him where to put the Script <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/biggrin.gif">

OpenWin.focus()
