probably I am the only one who didn't know of this, so if this is the case, please just ignore this thread.
i was bored the other day, so i typed a simple sentence in my addressbar and hit the enter button. i was quite surprised.
type in without http or www or .com and stuff....just type in a part of a sentence like this one:
mad scientists and some lunatics
cool ey? Firefox seems to do a quick google and then automatically redirects you to the #1.
pretty nice

You can also set up quick searches so you can quickly search most of your favorite sites.

I've got:

g "terms" - Googles
gi "terms" - Google Images
d "word" - Searches dictionary.com

And several others. There's instructions on the Firebird/Fox website on how to set them up.

The feature krets is referring to is Smart Keywords, which I tend to use a lot and find even more useful than Fx's built-in search bar.

Here are just some that I use:

g - Google
img - Google Images
dir - Google Directory
grp- Google Groups
news - Google News
goto - I'm feeling lucky (typing the terms without a keyword does the same thing, but it takes longer, because the browser first attempts to parse your query as a URL.)
dict - Dictionary.com
wiki - Wikipedia (does an I'm Feeling Lucky under the domain en.wikipedia.com)
imdb - Internet Movie Database
lj - Livejournal (just enter a username)
bug - Bugzilla (enter a bug ID)

Meh, I added the snippets of the search fileds to my startup instead. that way I am not dependant to a single browser/comp.
