There are various ways of doing this - you can use special characters like:

£ £ - £
¥ ¥ - ¥
€ € - €

but support for these characters depnds on the computer being used and their meaning may also differ across the world (dollars, dinars and pounds are widley uused names for different currencies). What you really need to do is is use the international standard ISO 4217 which is a 3 letter standard recognised across the world e.g.:

USD - United States Dollars
EUR - Euro
GBP - Great Britain Pounds

You should also bear in mind that the writing of numbers and dates can differ and you may also want to address that issue at the same time.
