I've made websites for other people but never for myself because I never felt like I had anything to put there. Still I made it as minimalistic as possible, just a gallery and I hope my pictures speak for themselves. Less now, hopefully more in the future.

www.kaarellumi.com

Made that in 1.5h.
The color scheme is stolen ^^ from lightbox-s website which is also the origin of the cool piece of js that displays those images. Also found a php script that creates those thumbnails, edited that a little bit so all the thumbnails are shaped as squares and wrote a few lines of php myself so all I have to do is upload a picture and it shows up on the website automatically.

Took up photography a month ago when I treated myself to Canon EOS 400D and 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens.

Also hello to fellow inmates, I hope someone still remembers me. Been away for a while.

edit: oh wow, looks like this was my 200. post ^^

Yup, it's definitely minimalist.

A few comments...

1) It would be nice if there were more contrast between the background and the subtitles--at least for me, they are a little bit hard to see.

2) It would also be nice if the website had a title. Yes, I know that you have the title in the browser title bar, but it feels a bit off not to have a title in the actual webpage.

3) The navigation for the photos is not immediately clear--although it did only take me a few seconds to figure it out. If you wanted to make it a little more user friendly, you could have the next/prev labels appear briefly (and then disappear again) when a photo is first loaded. If a visitor never mouses over the photo, they might not be aware that you can navigate that way (and thus feel that they have to close every photo and then click on another one).

4) When I click on the close text a scrollbar appears to the right very briefly. Also, sometimes it doesn't close after one click (loss of focus?) and I have to click twice. (I'm using FF on Win XP.)

That's about it. Nice photographs, by the way.

Just took a peak at your site I'd definitely change you content text color. I'm suring my fiances CRT monitor and it doesn't stick out enough from the background. On a side no thats an awesome lens. I almost bought one the other day, but I'm still debating between it and the 100-400mm IS. I shoot with a Canon 20D, and 350D with 17-85mm IS, 28-135mm IS, 50mm f1.8, and garbage 70-300mm non-IS.
