mem-oir, n.

1. An account of the personal experiences of an author.
2. An autobiography. Often used in the plural.
3. A biography or biographical sketch.
4. A report, especially on a scientific or scholarly topic.
5. memoirs The report of the proceedings of a learned society

[French mémoire, from Old French memoire, memory, from Latin memoria. See memory.]

Perhaps it can be linked to my recent obsession with reading biographies, perhaps it is my ever-current obsession with words, but I think the challenge of photographing a visual memoir is a challenging one.

Take your heart with you when you carry your camera. Your life is all around you.

Rules:
1. Photo needs to go along with the subject in some way.
2. Use thumbnails for photos with any dimension larger than 450 px or over 40 kb.
3. Post as many as you want.
4. At the end of the week the person who chose the topic will pick someone to choose the next topic. This isn't a "winner", just someone who gets to suggest the next topic.
5. No sigs

Those are some delicious images; you captured the idea I was trying to force quite nicely. Kudos.

Another of the same sort:

A note: it is quite exceptional to find graves for blacks from this time period in New England. Often the graves were either so poorly marked or marked with materials that couldn't last long, or even left unmarked altogether.

To find 2 in seperate cemeteries in the same town, both of whom managed to purchase their freedom (which, of course, is the main reason there is a stone to find at all...) was fairly interesting.

Time is getting on but I thought I'd sneak this one in, lest people think we've all disappeared under a tombstone

I have sent an email to twItch^, so hopefully he will be around soon to choose his successor. Just in case he does not show up, though, I'm making an executive decision (I hope no one minds, but I think the important thing is to keep the POW going):

DL, in the event that twItch^ does not show up soon, would you pick the next topic for us?
