Hello... I downloaded this sliced html and I use Dreamweaver.
htt p://photos.yahoo.com/bc/dariceroni/vwp?.dir=/bball&.src=ph&.dnm=bball.jpg&.view=t&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/bc/dariceroni/lst%3f%26.dir=/bball%26.src=ph%26.view=t

I would like to be able to add additional links using the buttons provided. However, I can only put 4 of buttons without the navigation area giving a gap therefore breaking the slice. How can I fix this without the image (diamond) breakin' up? I need to expand the navigation menu. Thanks for the help.

no... i posted an image of how the downloaded template look like. i'm still working on the template itself. basically, it's the navigation bar i'm having problem with (diamond). when i add additional buttons for links, it gives gap between the slices. can i just make it fix or make it expand seamlessly? to see the actual template, it's located at

Unfortunately, I couldnt get to their forum.

Can we see the actuall problem itself? Then we can help you better...I would tend to think that you've got table/'blank' space problems, but I can't tell for sure without the actual code...please post the code.

well like Shamman said, without seeing the actual problem it will be difficult to acutall see the problem.

The one thing that I can think of is that if your image tags are not on the same line as your TD tags. That can cause a funky break in your image.

Put up a link that is giving you a problem and we can better help.

Yep, need the code.

The best bet, of course, would be to skip the Dreamweaver and learn HTML.

I think that you sliced the image wrong. See the big white space to the left of your first button? That is the main problem I think throughout the slicing.

Did you put this together in Photoshop the *exact* way you want it to look and *then* slice it up? If not then that would be the best way to do it. Worked great for me in the past.

For starters, the left-align problem is caused by the table tag stating align="center". I would say that the problem with the button graphics is not that they are sliced wrong, but that they are not transparent ( http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/photoshop/transparency_1.html ) like they would need to be. They also seem that they could be cropped closer, but that's personal preference.

The fact that 3 nested tables are used to create this relatively simple layout is.....disturbing. The over-complex code is also part of the gap problem.

Try reading this: http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/html/tablestute_L1.html for help with understanding tables.

Or, even better still, read these tutorials: http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/css/cssintro/cssintro1.html http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/css/cssintro2/cssintro2-1.html http://www.gurusnetwork.com/tutorials/css/box_model/style.html
to learn how to do the layout without tables using CSS, which is always a better alternative anyway.

Use this: http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/ and this: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/ for reference when you get stuck.

Well, I'll have to go with DL-44...because he is right on the money. You'll notice what he means if you change the text size that the browser shows...it causes even more 'breaking' when the text is made bigger...

CSS is definetly a solution to this problem...I also had this problem with my site as I re-designed it...the main table is being 'exploded', causing this...(where your BG pic is).

Also, using transparence on your .Gifs would be a nice touch...for the buttons...let us know if you are having problems implimenting the CSS after you have tried...by showing us what you tried.

Thank you very much for the replies. I will read on the information at the provided links. I'll try to get as far as I can then will ask again if need be.

I didn't create this layout myself. I downloaded it from guistuff. However, their forum isn't accessible for some reason.

Thanks again for the info!
