Uh.. how 'bout Photoshop. The brushes pallet? Somehow I think I missed the point.

yes you did... :]

I don't want to load the whole brush palette in
photoshop since I didn't have a good control
about them.

I just want to know if there is a program with
a preview function (like acdsee for pictures...)
of the brushsets I have.

clear?

this would be a cool program. I've downloaded brushed and it is kind of memory intensive to load them all up to look at them.

I started to write my own micky.mouse to do that, but I couldn't figure out the entire ABR file format.

Ini may be the man for the job... but he is one busy busy busy guy... I'm sure he could put this on the TO DO list but I'm not sure when he could get around to doing it.

Ini: I'm sure if you do do this, there will be lots of people here who would buy a copy.

Cheers!

WJ, I may just be stupid, but don't you work at Adobe? I'm sure someone there could give you in the inside scoop on how the files work =p

I don't work for Adobe. Right now I'm taking it easy with some contracted cleaning jobs. Work less than 15 hours a week and make some big bucks for taking out the trash. Not a bad deal. The bills get paid and I still have time to take care of the girlies.

HumanShield works for Adobe.

When I was playing with the ABR format, all I did was look at them with a hex editor. I got some of the format figured out, but there are some bytes/words that I don't know what they do. InI said that he did get permission to write PSD files or somethings, but I doubt his deal would include details on ABR.

If a real coder (not me!) would take a look at this ( it's a .abr to .gbr tool) http://the.sunnyspot.org/gimp/tools/abr2gbr-1.0.2.tgz
they could probably find out how the abr format works.

Just a guess, but the ABR format may be something that Adobe doesn't just want to give out freely, so that other people could possibly copy them. But, you could always just email Human Shield, right?

If I remember correctly, HS does testing or something similiar. You know, try to break it type stuff. I doubt he has access to that info.

I was planning on doing my own thing with the ABR format. Personal use stuff. Who knows? Maybe I'ld be breaking the law. That would suck. Adobe coming after little ol' me.

Thanks for that Olsson. Looks pretty tasty from what I've seen so far. If I ever get back on task with my own mickey.mouse prog, it will be more than handy, but that's not gonna happen any time soon due to certain things.

wow, thanks Olsson. I could certainly use that for porting PS brushes to GIMP

Which is what it's for right?

According to the sunnyspot web site ( http://the.sunnyspot.org/gimp/tools.html ) ...

quote:
Actually abr2gbr can decode only ABR files with format version less or equal to
1, format version 2 is undocumented.

but for any hackers out there, the bright spot is that the source is available here for anyone who has the time to read it ....
